Sussex Club of Australia

The Aim of the Club and this website is to promote the Sussex throughout Australia.The Sussex Club of Australia was originally formed in 1974 in Sydney , but fell into recession in 1977.

The Footscray and District Poultry Club at a meeting in October 1982 elected to reestablish and incorporate, the Sussex Club of Australia with the Footscray and District Poultry Club where it currently forms a major part of the Clubs endeavors. Sussex Awards are featured at each Show. Shields for Champion Sussex are presented at both our Early and Annual Shows. We have also sponsored awards for Sussex feature breeds at major State shows.

On Saturday the 26th of July 2008, we held the Inaugural National Sussex Show in conjunction with our regular Footscray & District Annual Show.   This show was held at our recently developed pavilion situated on the Racing and Recreation Reserve at Bacchus Marsh, Victoria.

We would also like to set up a Members’ Breeders Directory with a country wide database of  Sussex Breeders. This database would note varieties owned, along with contact information, to be available to other Club Members in the future,  who may be interested in purchasing or swapping alternative strains or varieties of Sussex .  The Sale or Wanted listings by members would be assessable to the general public.
